Good News For 32.41 Crore Jhanan Account Holders, Modi Government Extended The Overdraft Facility

The Central Government has approved the Pradhan Mantri Janhana Yojana (PMJDY) to continue indefinitely.


The central government said on Thursday that the Prime Minister's Janhana Yojna (PMJDY) has been approved for continuation of the indefinite period. In addition, expanding its scope, accident insurance has doubled and a five-year rebate has been given in the age limit. This decision was taken in the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. The official spokesman of the government said on Wednesday that extension and related changes have been made in the Atal Pension Scheme.

Explaining this on Thursday, the government said that in fact, this expansion has been done in the National Finance Inclusion Mission, Prime Minister Janhwan Yojna. Making an amendment on behalf of the Press Information Office, it was said that in the tweet wrongly mentioned 'Atal Pension Scheme'. But this fact is in reference to the Prime Minister's Janhana Yojana. The information office said, "We are sorry for the mistake."

In the new incarnation of Janhana Yojana, now the account holder's age limit will be 18-65 years for the facility of overdraft. Formerly the maximum age limit was 60 years. The earlier limit of overdraft was Rs 5,000, which has been increased to Rs 10,000. Also, there will be no condition for overdraft of Rs 2,000.
